Pathways to Success
A school community built on respect, belonging, and success
HASS (Humanities and Social Sciences)
The Humanities and Social Sciences (HASS) learning area uses a modified Australian Curriculum to develop programs that meet the educational needs of our students in ways that acknowledge their abilities and needs. Learning experiences are designed to be meaningful, engaging and relevant, helping students make connections between their learning and the world around them.
Students are provided with opportunities to learn about their place in the world (My Personal World), Indigenous culture, Dreaming and Creation stories, and how communities have changed and remained the same over time. Through these topics, students develop an understanding of identity, culture, community and belonging.
The HASS curriculum at Salisbury High School provides opportunities for students to make connections between themselves, the past and the present, helping them develop a greater understanding of the world in which they live today.
