Humanities and Social Sciences (HASS)
The Humanities learning area provides a wide range of courses covering diverse aspects of our world, society, culture and environment. Within the HASS curriculum area students will study History, Geography, Civics and Citizenship, and Business and Economics. Students will develop knowledge, skills and dispositions which will enable them to participate as ethical, active and informed citizens in our local and global community.

Programs
Years 7 to 9 students study HASS as part of the core curriculum. Studies focus on Early European History, Indigenous Culture, The Industrial Revolution and World War I.
Year 10 students study HASS for one semester as a compulsory unit, and then have the option to do an extra semester in Civics and Citizenship. Year 10 students examine World War II, the Rwandan Genocide and Human Rights, as well as the South Australian judicial system. They will also examine post-war Australia and Pop Culture and its effect.
Senior students are able to continue their studies in HASS by choosing the options available at SACE Stage 1 and Stage 2, such as History, and Society and Culture.
The HASS learning area enables students to transition into a range of tertiary courses at various levels.
