Our Inclusive Education Team works closely with students, families and staff to deliver personalised programs that strengthen literacy, numeracy, social skills and learning confidence, helping students engage positively with learning and reach their individual goals.
Pathways to Success
Creating pathways for lifelong learning
What is the role of the Inclusive Education Team?
The Inclusive Education Team supports students with additional learning needs through the delivery of effective, evidence-based programs.
These programs include:
-
- Learning Support
- Level Up (Social Skills)
- Executive Functioning & Life Skills
- Behaviour Support
- Studio Program
- Classroom Support
What is Learning Support?
Learning Support replaces an elective subject and provides personalised assistance for students with additional learning needs. Students work either one-on-one or in small groups to strengthen their learning and engagement. Support may include:
-
- Assistance with task completion, including drafting, scaffolding, and organisation
- Literacy support
- Numeracy support
How do we support the development of Social Skills?
Our Level Up Program helps students develop positive relationships through effective communication and emotional self-management. Students identified as requiring additional support within the Social and Personal continuum participate in a tailored social skills program.
Programs are designed to meet each student’s functional needs and are guided by:
-
- Recommendations from external providers
- Student goals identified in their One Plan
- Individual progress within the Social and Personal continuum
Students receive targeted support either individually or in small groups to build and strengthen social skills.
How do we support the development of executive functioning skills?
Students are referred to the Executive Functioning Program through the Care and Learning Support programs. Both students and staff complete assessment tools to identify areas requiring support.
Using this information, students participate in targeted activities and work alongside experienced Inclusive Education staff to develop personalised strategies and supports that build executive functioning and independent learning skills.
What is the Studio Program?
The Studio Program provides students with access to a modified curriculum and a differentiated learning environment designed to support their individual learning needs.
Teachers deliver targeted instruction informed by a range of student data. Classes have a maximum of 20 students, with additional classroom support available to facilitate small-group learning. Where possible, students work with a reduced number of teaching staff to provide consistency and support.
Students in Years 7, 8 and 9 access the Studio Program during their core subjects of English, Maths, Science, Humanities and Literacy. The level of support gradually decreases as students’ progress through each year level. Each subject includes 210 minutes of teaching time per week across the full year.
